Top 10 Misconceptions about Chinese Investment in Africa

I found this article about Chinese relationship with Africa (Check the link above). I thought it was interesting and wanted to share it with you. Yet, I am not sure what to make of it...I am still thinking...
One thing I will say right now is that "if you do not protect your ass, no one will do it for you."
Two other things:

1. Compared to Africa's relationship with the Western nations, is its relationship with China and India better?
2. I don't think anyone other country will fight for Africa if African leaders do not fight for the interest of their own people.
The last time I checked international relations are still governed by the same theory: Realism. Basically, everyone for his own interest.

So, I might accuse Europeans, Americans, Chinese, Indians, etc for the way they treat Africa. However, allow me to accuse African leaders, first and foremost, for the way they are allowing others to treat Africa.

This is what we africans need to know when investors and diplomats come to africa: it's very basic:

"We're here to help you"
truly means "we're here to help ourselves thru you".

Even some christian missionary go to africa only to fullfill their own quest of adventurous achievements.

Hell! People don't even help their families any more...

Governments help their own people less and less...

A Togolease Proverb says: "When the hut of your neighbor is burning, help him put out the fire, for the wind might bring the flames to your own hut."

You are therefore Helping your self not your neighbor.

It's a human thing: People don't help others, they help themselves, and it's normal.

That's where I can't resist to wonder how human we africans are, since we don't seem to be able to help ourselves.
Aye, your thoughts ?

To the target!
I completely agree with you. I will refer you to this great book I am reading "The White man's Burden." Do you remember this famous quote of Kipling we learned in school: "le fardeau de l'homme blanc venu civiliser les peuple d'Afrique". Well this author is basically saying that "nothing new under the sun" from slavery, colonization, foreign aid, structural adjustment...
The day when Africans understand (like Japanese, Indians, and Chinese) that homegrown development is the only solution, that day, they will see the light.
